Satellite River Discharge Measurements
Data for: 16-Apr-12 Yellow: low flow or ice-covered Technical  Summary
(under construction) Blue: normal
Purple: flood Crosses (red and yellow):  Satellite Gauging Site Locations
Red: major flood from online gauging station data
This display uses NASA/Japanese Space Agency AMSR-E and TRMM data to estimate discharge at an increasing array of river measurement sites.
It replaces an earlier "Version 1" system based entirely on AMSR-E data. That sensor ceased operation October 4, 2011.
NASA GPM and other microwave data sources will also be incorporated when these become available.
This version initiated January 12, 2012.  Many more sites will be added. All have been calibrated to discharge units using a global hydrological model.
